Project Salvage is now underway on a 1991 Chevy Silverado (CK1500), and the first steps is these temporary door pods.
If you don't know back in 1991 car audio wasn't the main focus of many car manufacturers. If it was a owner's priory to have great car audio, and features. Those was added on as extras opinions. That costed money from the dealership. That's not the case now with modern cars, and car audio. Stock is a Bose, or Kicker system. But, what about those who own older vehicles still. And, want those features that come in modern day cars. Well that's when aftermarket comes in.
Stock this 91 Silverado had 4 4x6 speakers. 2 in the upper dash, and 2 in the pillars. Which provided some sound with the stock head units. So, the first step in Project Salvage is to upgrade to some sound. By added in these temporary door pods to go into the doors. Which this 91 does not have speakers in the doors. These temporary door pods will hold 1 5.25 inch, 1 4 inch, and 1 3 inch coaxial speaker. Check out part 1 of the build below.
These panels was designed to fit inside the pocket of the doors, and be mounted to the back they will be powered off a 2 channel amplifier wired at 2 ohms. Check out the close to finished project part 2 of the video below.
