Ford Ranger Remix

Week 1 - The Unveil... The new project car for Aye Kaye Audio. A 1997 Ford Ranger XLT 4.0L V6. This vehicle had been sitting up for 6 months prior to acquiring it. As to the previous owner the motor ran, but the transmission had bit the dust. With enough intermittent information on the vehicle. It had just enough wrong to make a nice long term project.

Week 2 - Interior Tear down... For all things to begin they say its better to start on the outside in. But, for the now "Ranger Remix or Ashley" it was best to start in the interior, and work out. Since the interior is easier to take out rather messing with the lingering problem that the transmission was shot. No one wants to mess with that off the bat. Best to save it for later when more time could be invested into it. For now the seats, carpet, and rear panels have been removed. But, there are still some pieces of the interior to take out. And, a problem that the factory wiring harness had been cut for the head unit. Hopefully a reverse wiring harness will correct that problem.

Week 3 - Interior Tear down Continued... The removal of the interior continues. Removing the last couple of pieces that will complete the tear down. That is the B Pillar, Headliner, and A Pillars. These will be reused in the rebuild. But, there is one main part that is currently staying intact. And, that is the dash. For now at least. And, while the dash is in. It may as well serve a purpose. As the original radio was pulled out. A temporary one was put in its place in the form of the SSL ML41B. For the time being this head unit will play music as the truck is being worked on. For the harness problem encountered in Week 2. That has been fixed by using a reverse harness. Although this reverse harness didn't match the factory wiring. It can still be used. Running new wires for the 12V, accessory, and ground. And, adding new speaker wires to the speaker factory location. Which will help for future installs.
Week 4 -With everything removed from the interior of the vehicle. Its time to take care of some lose ends. Starting with the radio harness. After buying reverse radio harness for a factory harness plug to be attached. Went down hill, by the reverse harness not color matching the factory harness colors, and the internet not having a detailed diagram of the factory harness. Other actions had to be taken. As in creating a new factory harness with the reverse harness. After addressing that problem. It was onto placing the newly purchased voltmeter. Which also proved to be difficult in placing into the curved dash bezel of the Ranger. With some filing, and filler. The fitment becomes a little better...
