Temporary Doors Pods for Project Salvage

Project Salvage is now underway on a 1991 Chevy Silverado (CK1500), and the first steps is these temporary door pods.

If you don't know back in 1991 car audio wasn't the main focus of many car manufacturers. If it was a owner's priory to have great car audio, and features. Those was added on as extras opinions. That costed money from the dealership. That's not the case now with modern cars, and car audio. Stock is a Bose, or Kicker system. But, what about those who own older vehicles still. And, want those features that come in modern day cars. Well that's when aftermarket comes in.

Stock this 91 Silverado had 4 4x6 speakers. 2 in the upper dash, and 2 in the pillars. Which provided some sound with the stock head units. So, the first step in Project Salvage is to upgrade to some sound. By added in these temporary door pods to go into the doors. Which this 91 does not have speakers in the doors. These temporary door pods will hold 1 5.25 inch, 1 4 inch, and 1 3 inch coaxial speaker. Check out part 1 of the build below.

These panels was designed to fit inside the pocket of  the doors, and be mounted to the back they will be powered off a 2 channel amplifier wired at 2 ohms. Check out the close to finished project part 2 of the video below.

Virtual Reality Sound Labs Amplifier Found!!

Sometimes you never know what you've forgot you had after so many years. Or, maybe you never knew what someone else had forgot about after so many years.

Most of the time the things we store, and forget about is something we cherished at the time, and didn't want to get rid of. So, we packed it up then threw it among other boxes. Until someone came along looking for something, and found it. Well... that's what kind of happened with this amp find. It was stored in a shed among other car audio things that looked kind of okay, but you wasn't sure it was going to work or not.

But, after pulling those amps out to dig a little deeper. This jewel popped up. The Virtual Reality Sound Labs VRA1.0 - 300 Watt,1 Channel amplifier. Now, this may not look like anything to someone who knows who it is. Which it actually isn't. The Virtual Reality Sound Labs VRA1.0 was made in 2003 in China, and sold in Walmart. Some models can be still found on EBay ranging from around $35.00 to $75.00 USD. So, what makes this amplifier worth anything. Again nothing.. Sometimes nothing can mean everything. This amp is the only amp that actually fully works compared to some of the others that was found. Its body is still in great condition. A little rust on some edges, but words can still be seen. So there is no guessing in what knob does what.

Overall. Its a good little find. Might come in handy one day. Or, you never know the price of this cheap amp might skyrocket. Check out the video below of the Virtual Reality Sound Labs VRA1.0 amplifier.
